It is a purely government job under Central Government of India. Application process has already started from 12th of April 2025 and it will continue till 11th May of 2025 which is the last date of application for this position.
Total number of vacancies are 9,970. Let us understand about the eligibility criteria for apply for this position.
As educational qualification interested candidates have passed class 10 or matriculation to apply for this position.

According to the official notification the initial monthly salary will be ₹19,900. Medical condition should be of A1 level.
Loco pilot recruitment, selection process
There will be fine status of The selection process for the recruitment of assistant loco pilot.
- Computer Based Test 1 ( CBT 1)
- Computer Based Test 2 ( CBT 2)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test ( CBAT)
- Documents verification
- Medical test
1.CBT 1
Computer based test 1 will be a test of 60 minutes. Total number of questions will be 75 and each question will have 1 marks.
There will be a deduction of ⅓rd marks for each wrong answer.
2.CBT 2
Computer based test 2 will be of two parts. Total marks for CBT 2 will be 175.
Part A will be of 90 minutes exam and total number of questions will be 100. Each question will hold 1 marks. There will be a deduction of ⅓rd marks for each wrong answer.
Part B will be of 60 minutes exam and total number of questions will be 75. Each question will hold 1 marks. There will be a deduction of ⅓rd marks for each wrong answer.
For part A, the marks obtained by a candidate will be considered as the required marks for the CBAT, where the marks of part B will be only for the qualifying purpose, candidates need to get 35% minimum to qualify in the part B paper.
Marks of CBT 1 will require to qualify for CBT 2.
3.CBAT
To qualify for computer based aptitude test, candidates need to pass CBT 2.
Loco pilot recruitment, age limit
To apply for the position, candidates must have to be between the age group of 18 years to 30 years.
Age relaxation will be there for SC, ST, OBC in the following say
SC,ST- 40 years
OBC (NCL) – 38 years

Loco pilot recruitment, Citizenship
To apply for this post candidates have to be a citizen of India or a citizen of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or candidates can be a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 etc. There are more other categories available in the official notification.

To apply for the job role candidates have to visit https://www.rrbapply.gov.in/#/auth/home?flag=true first. Then they have to create an account there before starting the application process. Once the profile is made they will directly lead to the page to apply for the assistant loco pilot position.
